COMMISSIONED PORTRAIT Information

Portraying individual animals has been my specialty since 1977, when I did a large oil painting of an Arabian stallion in Delaware. The folks that owned him drove all the way to Richmond, Virginia to see the painting and purchased it!!

I always strive to create a likeness of each animal that reflects their true personality, energy and beauty. I use photographs, as many as it takes, to see the detail of each individual. I like to see the animal in person, if possible, but that is not always the case. I have done some of my best portraits without ever having seen the animal.

Commissions are done from good, clear photos that show the horse's color, conformation and good detail of the eye and face. You can choose your medium of pencil, watercolor or oil. Pencils and watercolors take from four to eight weeks. Oil paintings take 2 to 4 months, depending on the size.

I have portrayed many individuals from "Cass Ole" who portrayed "The Black Stallion" in the movie, "Ivanhoe Tsultan", "PROFIRE", *"Makorr", "S.V. Basko", and "*Piechur" to name just a few! I have also done many breeds of horses, dogs, and cats. Even done a few "bovine". Any questions you have about having a portrait done of your loved one, please feel free to call me!

Prices quoted are approximate costs for a standard size work and are truly affordable!!!

Payments can be made to suit your budget over a period of time that is easiest for you! Please feel free to call to discuss arrangements. Prices given are for one subject- please ask for quotes for two or more.
